During Design September 2015 La Fabrika will invite Mae Engelgeer to create an installation around her work.
Dutch textile designer Mae Engelgeer lives and works in Amsterdam. Her studio is located in the city centre and looks out over the canals near Kadijksplein.

Mae’ s introduction to textiles took place over 10 years ago when she began studying textile design at the Amsterdam based Fashion Institute (AMFI). She also graduated from the Master course at the Sandberg Institute were she explored the field of art and design.
For most of her work she collaborates with the famous Dutch Textile Lab in Tilburg. Reintroducing often forgotten weaving techniques, the love for wool yarns, designing patterns and mixing colours; all of those elements emerge from Mae’ s intuition and ultimately come together into a unique sensible whole.

Mae’ s designs range from tea towels, plaids, rugs and many more. The latest collection MOD was recently presented in a solo exhibition during the Salone del Mobile in Milan. MOD is a minimalistic and modern textile collection with graphic patterns, line play and subtle gradients. The collection is made out of high quality yarns in black and blue, hues of pastel and hints of bordeaux. |
